Newborn Care & Overnight Specialist  

 

The Newborn Care & Overnight Specialist’s duty is at the discretion of the employer.

The  primary role of a Newborn Care Specialist is to provide assistance and education after the parents bring the baby home from the hospital. Many times, this will include  scheduling, feeding, sleep training, help with breast feeding and more.

While working to give parents a break from long nights and no sleep, the newborn care specialist will be responsible for feeding, swaddling and comforting babies during the days and nights.

A knowledgeable newborn care and overnight specialist will be an exceptional addition to your early days of adjusting to parenthood.

Some Responsibilities of Newborn Care & Overnight Specialists:

• Educate and support parents to create a smooth transition during newborn stage

• Troubleshoot potential issues of concern with the newborn and give solutions to new parents

• Maintain a thorough log of infant feeding and sleep patterns for detail reporting 

• Assist mother with any feeding issues she may have, including the facilitation of breastfeeding and be knowledgeable in answering breastfeeding questions 

• Soothing babies using skilled and proven techniques that help calm newborns

• Diapering, swaddling, changing and bathing  

• Bottle preparation and cleaning (including pre-pumped breastmilk and/or formula)

• Organization & maintenance of nursery, including washing linens and light laundry

• Create a regular feeding schedule for newborn, keeping a consistent rhythm

• Assisting parents in establishing healthy sleeping and eating habits for growing baby

• Take over complete care of newborn at night to provide parents time to sleep (as needed)

Qualifications to register as a Newborn Care & Overnight Specialist  

• Minimum 5 years experience in your domestic field  

• Educational background & degrees that apply to position  

• Impeccable references from 2-3 previous employers  

• Valid Drivers License  

• Proof of Citizenship  

• Clean Driving Record 

• CPR & First Aid Certified (or willing to complete) 

• Must pass background check  

• Credit check (depending on job duties)  

• Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking) 

• Comfortable with being legally employed (W2) and paid via Payroll 

• Valid Passport holder & willingness to travel  

• Legal to work in the U.S.  

• Non-Smoker
